INRAD – APE Form Alliance to Market State-of-the-Art Autocorrelators

INRAD and APE have formed a partnership whereby INRAD markets the line of autocorrelators in North America and in Israel that are manufactured by APE in Germany.

APE offers an extensive array of autocorrelators for measuring ultrafast laser pulses. The instruments are characterized by their compactness and ease of use. At the heart of each autocorrelator, except for the new-concept SPIDER autocorrelator, is a state-of-the art linear delay drive with integrated high-resolution position readout. Each autocorrelator features an optical layout that requires a minimum of adjustment and the use of all reflective optics for the highest possible time resolution. The autocorrelator product line is differentiated by the offering of six distinct autocorrelators — Carpe, MICRO, MINI, PulseCheck, PulseCheck TC, PulseScope.

The Carpe
The Carpe Autocorrelator measures the pulsewidth of ultrafast laser excitation pulses used in Multi-Photon Excitation (MPE) microscopy right at the specimen. The Carpe allows one to optimize performance of MPE experiments since the most efficient excitations occur with the laser pulses of the shortest temporal width. The detector of the Carpe can be positioned right where a specimen would be positioned in a confocal scanning microscope, and can measure the GVD effect of the many optics in the microscope. MICRO
MICRO is an ultracompact, low cost autocorrelator that fits in the palm of your hand. It is used for pulse duration measurements of high repetition rate, femtosecond lasers with versions that cover the 500-2100 nm wavelength range.

MINI
MINI is a compact, standard autocorrelator that has been newly updated with an integrated display, the ability to operate with low repetition rate lasers, and an RS-232 interface. Inclusion of an LCD display means that a separate oscilloscope is not required to visualize an autocorrelation trace. Incorporation of a triggered scan mode allows the system to measure pulses from ultrafast lasers of any repetition rate -- oscillator or regenerative amplifier. In addition, the RS-232 interface permits the parameters of the autocorrelator to be set from a computer terminal.

Operating with either high or low repetition rate lasers, the user can configure the MINI to produce non-collinear background-free autocorrelation functions, or collinear autocorrelation functions of either the intensity or fringe-resolved type. The measurement range is from femtoseconds up through several picoseconds with a number of standard wavelength ranges available.

PulseCheck
PulseCheck is a very flexible autocorrelator that is operated from a dedicated electronic controller with a color LCD display. In addition to all of the features of the MINI, the PulseCheck measures pulsewidths from femtoseconds up through tens of picoseconds, with optional delay ranges. In addition, a broader range of wavelengths and optional features are available with this slightly larger autocorrelator.

PulseScope
PulseScope is a PulseCheck — with all of the flexibility of that instrument — to which an integrated laser spectrum analyzer has been added. With this combination, spectral intensity can be monitored in addition to the autocorrelation function.
